The National Air Race Project Objectives

The National Air Race Project was formed to further three goals through historical research and presentation of this information in an entertaining and enlightening way. Our goals are:

  • Preserving and perpetuating the rich history of early air racing,
  • Educating young adults and the general public to the significant aviation advancements achieved through air racing, and

Air Race DVDs

The National Air Race Project is pleased to offer these extensively researched stories in fully narrated, high-quality, DVD’s containing hundreds of vintage photographs and hours of period film footage... much of which has never before been published.

The DVDs feature the famous race planes of the early 1930s: the Gee Bee Racers, the Mystery Ship, the Wedell-Williams racers, the Laird Solution and Super Solution, and Benny Howard's DGA Racers among many others.

Also included in the DVD are the later 1930s race planes: the Keith Rider racers, Steve Wittman's Bonzo and Buster, the Schoenfeldt Firecracker, Roscoe Turner's LTR-14, the French Caudron, and Art Chester's Goon and Sweet Pea.

The war surplus racers of the 1940s are well represented including Cook Cleland's Super Corsairs, the P-39 Cobra II, P-51 Mustangs, P-63 King Cobras, and P-38 Lightnings.
